Blogs and Wikis are both forms of new media. A blog is a public forum created by an individual. Users and readers have the ability to post their comments about a post. Users cannot change or edit previous posts or comments. Bloggers play an important role in conveying news. In fact, in the University of Washington research report "How can we measure the influence of the blogosphere" it speaks about the influence that bloggers play in politics. Politicians use blogs to communicate with people. Additionally, other bloggers posts their political opinions on their blogs. It is a powerful tool that can be used to help a politicians career.
A wiki on the other hand, is a public forum in which multiple users can edit the information. As explained on Wikipedia page on Wikis, wikis are a public forum in which users can add, remove, or change information. All user work collectively to share thoughts and ideas to create a central page of information. Wikis are also a great tool in businesses. As read in the article "How to use Wikis for Business," teams can use wikis to collectively build reports and projects. Each member of the team can edit the page wherever they are as long as they have internet access.
